This work was the first in Spain to deal specifically and completely with thorough bass accompaniment at the keyboard. This bilingual edition presents a readily legible transcription of the full Spanish text of the 1736 edition with the original pagination.


Paul Murphy is Associate Professor at the State University of New York, College at Fredonia. Trained both in music theory and performance, he has been active as a piano soloist and accompanist, as well as a musical director, conductor, and arranger. Preparation of present volume was assisted by a grant from the Society for Music Theory.
