The Bauyn manuscript is preserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris. A most important source of seventeenth century harpsichord music, it contains also some organ music and some pieces for viols; the volume includes works by some of the greatest clavecinistes active in Paris in the second half of the seventeenth century: Jacques Champion de Chambonnières, Louis Couperin, Jacques Hardel, Jean Henry d’Anglebert, Johann Jakob Froberger among other, lesser-known authors.
