Briceño, a Spanish musician living in Paris, published there in his native tongue a tutor constituting an unique sourcebook for the period. He writes for the Spanish guitar with five strings, using a tablature that is still not fully understood. Among many unique pieces is to be found the earliest saraband recorded in musical notation.
