Shortly before Rameau’s theoretical works, Dandrieu sets forth a method of an essentially practical and logical nature, by means of 21 tables. Below each of these, he explains the intervals composing the chord, and the notes of the major and minor scales on which they appear. The author, unlike a great number of others, does not intend his work for beginners, but for players having already a certain command of their instrument. He winds up with examples, giving the basses for a number of celebrated Brunettes.
