Titre complet: The First Part of Ayres, French, Pollish, and others together, some in Tabliture, and some in Pricke-Songs, with Pavines, Galliards, and Almaines for the Viole de Gambo alone, and other Musicall Conceites for two Base Viols, expressing five parts, with pleasant reportes one from the other, and for two Leero Viols, and also for the Leero Viole with two Treble Viols, or two with one Treble. Lastly for the Leero Viole to play alone, and some Songes to bee sung to the Viole, with the Lute, or better with the Viole alone. Also an Invention for two to play upon one Viole.

Hume a publié deux recueils de pièces pour violes et airs, le premier date de 1605. Il est intitulé The First Part of Ayres. Le second recueil, de 1607 s'intitule Captaine Humes Poeticall Musicke. Le 1^er recueil est dédié à Lord William, comte de Pembrooke, Lord Herbert de Caryf, Lord Par et Rosse de Kendall, Lord Marmion et Sir Quintin, Lord Warden des Stannaries et Chevalier du très Honoré Ordre de Garter. Il comprend 117 pièces dont 104 pour viole seule. Le second recueil est dédié à la Reine Anne, et comporte 25 pièces, pour viole, luth et voix.
